‘’Red Hot & Rio’’ was a very important release for me, something like point zero because with St. Germain ‘’Boulevard’’, one year earlier, sympolized my musical A.D. period. I grow up with new wave, rock, electropop and italo disco sounds and feel little bit the black magic of elegant blue eyed soul from the pop era of UK music scene, the black spirit of the explosion of acid house music and philadelphia and salsoul years. ‘’Red Hot & Rio’’ shocked me. Under the name of Tom Jobim who export global the brazillian bossa nova and shaped one field of the early sixties lounge era, many artists of the moment, already big stars of the recent decade and Brazillian and not only musicians did one of the best compilation that ever heard. ‘’Red Hot & Rio’’ was a catalyst that began the personal searching and understanding of brazillian music and its worldwide contemporary modern extensions. Astrud ‘’Girl From Ipanema’’ Gilberto sang ‘’Desafinando’’ with George Michael, David Byrne that already worked with the music of South America sang with Marisa Monte ‘’Water Of March’’ and super Acid Jazz male voice of Omar sang with legendary Ana Caram Incogniti reworked production of ‘’Aqua De Beber’’ my fave version of this song. Imagine the most sundressed trip hop beats ever. Tropicalism Milton Nascimento and Gilberto Gil did the original brazillian job on the compilation and Sting sang with Antonio Carlos Jobim via the power of technology. At last have to mension that the fresh name real soul of those days Maxwell sang ‘’Seguranca’’ and Everything But The Girl Drum ’n’ Bass:ed ‘’Corcovando’’.
