This is the first not Hamza release on Indian Wind Horse Records and i feel this is just the begginin'. The same title track is really big, sounds like rock tune reworked for the dancefloor at the beggining cos of its strong bassline. Later the traditional persian strings give it an exotic attitude among breakdowns and strong come backs over the mysteries of ancient persian imaginary soundscape carpet. Hamza in his remix on the original is adding more exotic sunlights over the track, percussions and tablas flirting with something like oceanic indigenous Australian didgeridoo’s. Dr. Martens is celebrating its 50th anniversary by enlisting ten contemporary bands and ten film directors to cover ten cult classic songs. The seventh and latest track in the series is N.A.S.A.'s re-interpretation of Max Romeo and The Upsetters classic reggae anthem "I Chase the Devil." Having collaborated with heads as diverse as M.I.A., Karen O and Tom Waits on their masterful debut LP The Spirit of Apollo, it was anyone's guess as to what direction N.A.S.A. would take. After hours spent crunching real tape loops and experimenting with the dubbing to get exactly the right "stoned, spacey feel," the production on the track sparkles. This is the second promo compilation that got from Broken Records, Chicago USA. ‘’Made 2 B Broken’’ last year was a great collection with new and back catalogue tracks of the label and this new one stands on the top too. ‘’Old Skool New Skool’’ compiled by Jesse Saunders again and the house legend plays excellently with the words like with the included trakcs. First of all we can hear old school sounds of Broken Records, older releases like last year’s Cannyrock & Alessia Kay’s ‘’Cube Ah Reloaded’’ touched by Didier Vanelli’s Soul Power – Gibson Brothers latin disco anthem ‘’Cuba’’ cover, Splash’s ‘’Nite By Nite’’ from 2006, Dj Ernan’s sexy ‘’Cum With Me’’ at its Gruv Mix from 2005 and Jesse Saunders own house stormers ‘’On & On’’ remixed – first ever house track from 1983’’, ‘’Feelin Me’’ on Gruv Vox version and ‘’In The Heat Of Passion’’ – the last one in two different remixes all ones closer to the disco sound. Old school on the other hand we can name the disco era of music and Calling All Boyz Remix on ‘’In The Heat Of Passion’’ cos sounds like italo disco, the sound that was popular in Chicago in the early 80’s and inspired Jesse Saunders to create something new, what we call house music now. New School represented here by the new sings of the label like Pablo Awad, Ron Jameson, Romano Giorgio and Ricky Teixeira. One more album that is flirting with jazz and bossa covers. ‘’Remember The Time’’ produced by Papik, Ely Bruna was one of the main vocalists of his illustrated nu jazz debut ‘’Rhythm Of Life’’ last december. The rolls easy, easy listening but sometimes sounds cheezy. For example ‘’Barbie Girl’’ and ‘’Material Girl’’ are two extra big pop hits that I hate to listen. Sometimes sounds like like r’n’b like Rick Astley’s ‘’Never Gonna Give You Up’’ and acid jazz Whitney Houston’s like ‘’I’m Your Baby Tonight’’ covers that is cd’s bonus track and is very good, ely’s vocals on the last one are full of passion and power. Good to listen few big italo disco hits in jazz like ’’Dolce Vita’’ and ‘’I Like Shopin’’and reggae bossa rhythm like ‘’Tarazn Boy’’, this is really exotic and one of my top tips of the album. At last I must not forget the best bossa covers of the project Corona’s ‘’The Rhythm Of The Night’’, when I was in italy for first time in my life that was a number one there, and Amazulu’s ‘’I Can’t Wait’’, love them. This is really nice suprice by Matthew Bandy. ''Walking On The Moon'' is very beautiful. Pure Groove. In Flagranti added some percusions and did a cosmic disco rework on the original. Heavy basslin:ed ''Sound FX'' is a gorgeous mixture of late 70's jazz funk and deep house philisophy. One of my fave new labels from the other side of atlantic ocean, for sure. Musical Missionary third release is another promicing and must have object. Chris Fortier original is a trippy voyage into the extensions of acid sound, a melodic space. Three remixers are including and love them more than the original. Deep maestro Jay Triwire offers the first one. He did a great rework, love the echo:ed percussions, old school strings and the flanger:ed keys. The second one comes from Just Jason. His Latenight Mix based on the acidic profile of the original. The third and the last one is my fave of the EP.
