DJ Nova's 2x5 - 2 people 5 questions - Christos Kedras Jan 2012

DJ Nova meets internationally-reputed DJ/Producer Christos Kedras for 5 questions:

1. Over time your "Beat Philosophy Radio Hour" has changed repeatedly. It seems to always evolve and sound a bit different. Do you feel that this is the result of certain trends in the house dance scene or do you follow the paths/influences that your personal life is creating?

Maybe my music taste is finally improving?! (laughs) I would say it is a little bit of both. I receive an ever-expanding selection of promos and if these follow the broader trends then I end up following them as well. However "personal" factors also affect, after all it is my ears that choose the tracks! It can be my taste that is changing, it can be an environmental influence (for instance I go more "deep" when in Greece), or it can be my feelings/mood.

2. You have travelled and lived in many places around the world. Do you feel that your land is where you are staying or are you flirting with the idea of coming back near the Aegean Sea where you were born?

They say that home is where the heart is and I my heart is definitely with Greece. But I also love traveling, getting to know new places, meeting new people, expanding my horizons. I am definitely flirting with the idea of coming back. There are some practical obstacles (the economy definitely being one of them) but also personality obstacles, I may have drifted so wide & far away that it may not be possible to become "Greek" again!

3. Many artists and music lovers don’t like the 80s. Now that the sound of the 80s is "in" again, what’s your opinion and what is your favorite music decade?

I wouldn’t say I have a favorite decade, I simply love good music! We are definitely seeing a trend with the 80s sound and I think this is great. The 80s produced a lot of great melodies, synth sounds, rich instrumentations. Of course the people were in over-the-top clothes & hairstyles which may be the reason so many dislike that decade!

4. What was the weirdest thing that somebody told you at a DJ event?

Didn't hear, it was too loud… ;-)

5. Tell us about your future music plans, rumors said that you are flirting with some new tracks and the studio again?

Indeed there are some productions in the work. I am putting the finishing touches on a new super-hot latin/jazzy house track, a very upbeat dancefloor bomb! There are also some remixes in the pipeline but you will have to wait a bit for the details on these.

• Track of the moment: Alistair Albrecht - Dirty chic - [Bedtime Records]
• Classic of the moment: Cicero - Live for today (orchestral mix) - [Polydor Records] (from the "Crying Game" movie soundtrack)
• Other: Special DJ mix for Nova's listeners
"Departure" a very deep/soulful/moody/vocal house set
to travel you to places…
