As a big fan of BSC since the beginning - well, in fact before the beginning, it was a long time before when I received on DJ Nova’s office an amazing CD-R with Oliver Beltz project’s first work ‘’But Rich Rhythms’’ - I feel that this ‘’new direction’’ is refreshing the already established – and never gonna change - BSC’s sound. This journey into primitive, ‘’organic’’, percussive and (love at first sight) rhythms is still going on and I love it more and more each time. Think of what you heard until now from The Bahama Soul Club, order a rum, lay back, smoke a cigar and imagine a big band on the background playin’ some really f**kin’ great Afro Cuban jazz music for you, this is the ‘’Cuban Tapes’’. I’m already got drunk with the smooth ‘’illustarted’’ jazz lounge here and really need a taxi to go home after the intoxicated parade of all these incredible female voices of Spanky Wilson!!!, Bessie Smith, Arema Arega, Ruthie Foster, Anna Luca, Telmary and Danay Suarez (hope I didn’t forget anyone!). The jazz vibe is strong, the funk and boogaloo are are still here but this time are cinematic. Even some kind of Balearic sunsets and Eivizza’s sand I discovered on ‘’ Cuban Tapes’’, yes ‘’La Serenata’’ is a kind of love triangle between Cuba, San Antonio and Nightmares on Wax. Someone said that this album is dark, obviously is too blind too see… But this is an avantage because this Colosseum work needs only your ears the other sences will follow… In the end I most not forget to mention that the digital album is running out with Suonho, Club Des Belugas and Grant Lazlo Remixes. - Dj Nova, Nova Planet Radio Show
